“Beauty is Pain”

“Beauty is pain” is something people have told me my whole life, to the point when I say it as well. I just now started thinking about the meaning behind this phrase. Is this really a phrase that young adolescents should grow up with, and live by? Is this affecting our society in different ways? Should beauty be defined by how much pain you feel to get there? These kind of sayings is the reason why society believes that wearing 6-inch stilettos, waxing your legs, and wearing spanx is beauty.

According to Global Market Inside Study, “Four out of ten individuals have either personally experienced an eating disorder or know someone who has.” This is a fact that I find quite interesting due to the fact that you experience pain as you have an eating disorder, but it is ignored, with the help of the phrase “beauty is pain”. We are told that we are never enough for society, and that you can self-harm to make yourself pretty. This is fascinating because our society has such a double standard. It tells us that make up, starving yourself, and heels are what makes us beautiful, but if you use it/do it, you are fake.

There are many days when I have felt unworthy due to the way I look, and this saying has simply helped me feel worse. Knowing that it’s okay to hurt as long as it shows your outer beauty, is not a motto that is worth living by. Therefore, it is time for our generation to change the way we look at life. “Beauty” is not pain, it is being a person who is caring and understanding. Beauty should not be based on appearance, instead on what kind of a person you are. In conclusion, we should change our outlook on life, and stop teaching children that “beauty is pain”.

Japanese Beauty Products

Here is the first product, which honestly, I just thought was really cool so I bought it for more than the reason that it is Japanese, haha. I have to be honest, I didn’t expect it to work but it TOTALLY DID! Which I am so happy about since I can now make any nail polish matte. However, one consequence of this was that the layers of the nail polish ended up SO thick. I just don’t think that looks very appealing but overall I give it a 3.8/5.

YAS! Teeth whitening for $15 is actually impressive. Yes the lighting is different in the pictures, and I didn’t see a difference in my teeth to be honest. However, I got SO MANY comments from different people saying that my teeth looked whiter so I mean, it must’ve had some impact I guess. I think that if this truly worked it gets a 4/5 but if it is just an illusion, 1/5 because it is fun to apply to your teeth.

I couldn’t really show a before and after picture because there is NOTHING to show! This product is really entertaining to just have since it is so unique. However, if you are aiming for a product that actually sharpens your features, then this is not the one you want to buy. I personally thought that it wasn’t hard until you did it for about 5 minutes or so, and even when you have done it that long, it doesn’t enhance any of your facial features… So I give this a 2/5 because I like the general exercise, haha.

I hope you guys enjoyed this blog post because I really enjoyed trying these products! Anyways, hope you have a great day!

What Happened To Society?

So, I wasn’t planning on writing this, but my scheduled post had broken down, so I decided now would be a good time to post this. I know I am going to get so many questions asked by my mom and dad, but I just think that I have to say some things to be honest to my readers. I just needed to share this because hopefully it will help many people understand the flaws of society, and not of themselves.

I have always been insecure about my body. Ever since I remember, I have always looked at my body with hatred because I couldn’t accept that everyone has flaws. I know everyone thinks about themselves this way but I also know, this is a horrible feeling. Why do we feel so insecure about our bodies? Is it because society has an ideal body image? I always see these beautiful models on all my social media, and I am not going to lie, I always feel this frustration about why I am not as “fit” as them. I grew up in a house where my parents would always talk about which diet they were going to try, and how they wanted to lose weight. I am just now starting to realizing, that may be one of the reasons why I was so aware of the ideal body at such a young age. I remember how at one period of my life, I ate more than my older brothers, because I had such a large appetite. When I realized that this was an issue, I went on a diet for about two years. I was in fourth grade.

When I got into sixth grade, I finally felt good about my body. That is until I moved to Japan. I saw how skinny everyone else was, and felt as if I didn’t fit in. I know that it’s not healthy to think that way, but I couldn’t help myself. I was comparing myself to others. When I lived in Italy, I had never heard what a thigh gap was. However, when I came to Japan, it seemed as if everyone wanted one because that is what determined if you were skinny or not. Which, for the record, is not true at all. It has to do with which body type you have, and your bone structure. I, of course, believed everyone and kept a thigh gap in mind each time I took a picture, and pushed my legs apart to create the illusion of having thinner legs. Can you believe that a 6th grade did that? That is horrifying! All because of society’s ideal body image.

I am not the only one who feels this way. According to DoSomething.Org, “Approximately 91% of women are unhappy with their bodies and resort to dieting to achieve their ideal body shape. Unfortunately, only 5% of women naturally possess the body type often portrayed by Americans in the media.” This is the real horrifying news. Can you believe what our society has done to some of these people’s minds? To MY mind? People always say, “It’s the inside that counts,” but if we see all these things on the internet about being a specific size, then of course, we may not believe that the inside is the only thing that counts.

Let me tell you something, all our bodies are different. I have a different body shape than Ebba, and Jiwoo, so I shouldn’t compare myself to them because we were built differently. So, what am I really trying to say in this post? Well, I hope all you people who are insecure, go on a path with me to find confidence in your own skin. I am still trying to find that but that doesn’t mean I don’t love anything about myself right now. I love my cheerfulness every morning. I love my ability to smile, when I feel the worst. I love my positiveness. I love the people I chose to surround myself by. I love my ability to tell my true friends, from fake ones. I love the way, I don’t care if I embarrass myself in front of hundreds of people. I love my curves and lips. But most of all, I love me enough to know that I want to make a change.

So as you can probably tell by the pictures above, I went shopping this weekend. Jiwoo and I went to a place here in Japan, and I bought some stuff for an upcoming blog post;-) That is the reason why I am only showing the two things on, because the rest will be for the next blog post. Anyways, I just have to say that I am in LOVE with the dress from H&M. I usually don’t wear a lot of dresses, but I am so in love with this one. I think it makes me feel confident, and so does the skirt. I think they are more for formal occasions because of the material that it’s made of.

Also, the things from Amazon were ordered about one week ago, and I am already becoming obsessed with the coloring book. I colored so much yesterday to help relieve my stress, and just to relax. I still have one thing that’s supposed to arrive but it’s from another store. It is just a wall decal with a cute saying so I can put it on my wall. I am super excited for that to arrive so I can finally organize my room’s walls. I love decorating my room, so it gives me satisfaction to know I have something to decorate it with, haha. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this quick post, and that you get excited for my Thursday’s post because I have something really fun planned.

New Years Outfits (Guest Blogger)

Hey everyone!

With new years coming up, I thought it would be really fun to team up and post some new years eve outfits.

My first outfit

I’m keeping it all smokey with this one, I love the look of dark grey silver and dark black. The look of completely smoked out clothing paired with a smokey eye makeup would look amazing.

Second outfit

This outfit looks very winter to me, I just love the light blue sequin dress paired with silver, it looks snowy and beautiful. A perfect outfit for new years eve!

Of course, sticking with a classic all black outfit for New Years. Classic black pumps with a silver bag to accent. It’s classic and so beautiful!

I’m loving this outfit! I kind of want to wear it myself. I love the black and silver on the dress paired with nude shoes. The blush and gold of the bag contrasts it and just brings it all together. It’s absolutely beautiful and also makes a statement. Can’t get better then that.

I really hope you guys enjoyed reading this! It was so fun to put it together. I hope it inspires some of you for your outfits.

Thanks all for reading!

So christmas is very tough for me sometimes to find things that I wish for since my birthday is only three months apart. However, I managed to find a few things that I have been wishing for. They are all quite expensive and I probably have more but I just can’t think of any right now. I am wishing for a lot more adventures this year as well such as, a cruise with Lina, and other adventures. All in all, I hope you can get inspiration from my wish list for yours, or what to buy somebody else.

Gossip Girl and Spa

Since we are free from school today because its a Japanese holiday, Ebba and I decided to have a sleepover. So at four o’clock about, she came up to my house, and we were supposed to go to the gym but she had already gone… It felt weird not going to the gym but I will go again on Sunday. When she came here I had an idea of having a foot spa and just watching gossip girl. We are both obsessed with Gossip Girl and I’ve seen it like 1000 times, haha. No but seriously… Anyways, we sat on my balcony and just started from the beginning of Gossip Girl. We watched like seven episodes but we will have something to watch now for the coming months.

For our nails, we painted them in the color Blanc by Essie, and I painted my hands in Sand Tropez by Essie. I think these colors are really classy and I always feel very fresh when I wear them. I know it sounds ridiculous but its true…

When we were watching Gossip Girl, we were being really childish in a way because we chose which person we would be in the show. Haha, I decided to be Serena Van Der Woodsen, she is just so pretty! I really love Blake Lively, she is such a great actress. I also realized, Jenny Humphrey is supposed to be FOURTEEN in the first season! That is just crazy to me! She is supposed to be my age!

When I woke up this morning, my mom came in with breakfast for both Ebba and I so that was super nice, and then we ate and watched more Gossip Girl. It feels so nice being in bed until you actually feel like getting out of bed. Later today, Ebba’s family and I are going to a garden to celebrate her dads birthday.

Hope you enjoyed hearing about my day and sorry for only posting boring posts lately but my blogging journal was left with my friend in Italy so all my ideas are there… But I promise better posts will be arriving soon!IMG_3147 IMG_3148 IMG_3157 IMG_3159 IMG_3170 IMG_3173 IMG_3181 IMG_3183

Recently I have been looking at some things that I am wishing for my birthday. I am one of those people who loves birthdays so when mine comes near, I just get super excited. My birthday is on October 17th, and I know that its two months left but I’m still excited. Therefore, I created two picture wish lists. The second one is just things I couldn’t fit one the first wish list. I don’t know exactly where all the things are from but if I didn’t know the brand, I wrote the website where you can find the things. Anyways, next time I post I will be in Japan instead of Stockholm, since I leave tomorrow morning. So bye sweden!
